Quicksilver Aircraft For Sale - The Quicksilver GT500 is a family of American high-wing, pushrod, spring-powered tricycles manufactured by Quicksilver Aeronautics of Temecula, California. The aircraft is available as a DIY kit or as a ready-to-fly aircraft.

The GT500 was designed specifically for the Sportplane class of main category airplanes (Part 21.24 of the Federal Aviation Regulations) and on July 26, 1994, became the first airplane certified in that category. The nomenclature of the aircraft is unclear, as the manufacturer variously calls it GT500, GT 500 and GT-500. FAA certification officially calls it the GT500.

The GT500 is made of aluminum tubing bolted together. The aircraft is covered with pre-stitched dacron and the front fuselage is made of fiberglass. The wing has half-span ailerons and half-span flaps. The GT500 has two tandem seats with dual controls and clamshell steering columns.

A 1991 upgrade included an additional locking door, adding a cruising speed of 10 knots (19 km/h), steel landing gear struts with twin brakes and an electric starter.

Single-seat version powered by a 40 hp (30 kW) Rotax 447 two-stroke engine or a 50 hp (37 kW) Rotax 503 two-stroke engine. Standard curb weight is 276 lb (125 kg) and curb weight is 570 lb (259 kg). It was originally sold as a GT. The estimated build time from the kit is 70 hours and the 530 was completed and flying by 2011.

Two-seater tandem version, equipped with a two-stroke Rotax 582 with a capacity of 64 hp. (48 kW) or four-stroke Rotax 912UL with a capacity of 80 hp. (60 kW). Rotax 618 two-stroke engine with a capacity of 74 hp. (55 kW), now retired, was an available option. Other options include floats, a ballistic parachute system, and a dust extraction system. The estimated build time from the kit is 185 hours and 450 were completed and flown by 2011. The GT500 is certified in the main US airframe category, but only if equipped with the Rotax 582 powerplant.
